There is no reason why it has developed like this....The joy of making the image suddenly takes over from the organized aesthetic, the route is not a conscious journey of applied chance or ingrained art theory, it is simple fun.

Westward Ho! and Bideford Arts Society Annual Exhibition Burton Art Gallery and Museum, Bideford

Saturday July 26 to August 25

ONE of the longest established and most prestigious arts societies in the South West of England is holding its 81st annual exhibition. The Westward Ho! and Bideford Art Society, founded in the 1920s, has attracted many fine artists to its membership. Members include painters, printmakers, sculptors, woodcarvers, potters and embroiderers. The exhibition is the most important event and showpiece for the society.

It is open on Tuesday to Saturday, 10am to 5pm, Sundays 2pm to 5pm and bank holiday Monday (10am to 5pm).
